About
Florian Amoser is an artist and architectural photographer based in Olten, Switzerland.

His practice combines commissioned architectural photography with independent experiemental artistic projects that explore the boundaries between physical and digital spaces and realities. Florian works with analog 4×5” large format film and digital medium format throughout Switzerland and abroad.

Florian Amoser’s commissioned work focuses on themes of design and complexity, addressing visual challenges brought by increasing digitalisation. Contemporary issues are often hidden within networks and processes. As a result, these issues are difficult to capture through straight photography. If needed, Florian draws on the tradition of scientific photography, developing artistic and technical tools, employing a range of analogue, digital, and post-photographic techniques. His approach transforms hidden complexities into structured, visually precise photographic images.

Florian has worked in the Bachelor and Master Photography programme at ECAL (2017 - 2022) and in the research project Automated Photography (2019 - 2021 together with Milo Keller and Claus Gunti). He studied Transdisciplinarity in the Arts at ZHdK in Zürich (MA, 2025), Photography at ECAL in Lausanne (BA, 2017) and Architecture at ETH Zurich (BSc, 2011).

Florian was FUTURES Photography in 2023 (nominated by Photo Elysée, Lausanne), was FOAM Talent in 2019 and received the Photography Prize of the Canton of Solothurn in 2018. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in the Swiss Pavilion at the Art Biennale in Gwangju, South Korea (2023), as part of Automated Photography at Espace Commines in Paris (2021), in Situations on Posthumanism at Fotomuseum Winterthur (2018, CH), as part of FOAM Talent in Amsterdam, New York and Frankfurt, and at several festivals, including Images Vevey (2016).
